Roger F. Jones was
named chairman at PlastiComp’s board of directors meeting
in Minneapolis on November 5-6 in Minneapolis.
Jones is President of Franklin International, Inc., a marketing
and management consulting firm serving the plastics industry.
In his over 40 years in the plastics industry, Jones has been
managing director of BASF Engineering Plastics; president
of LNP Engineering Plastics, Inolex Chemical and Franklin
Polymers; group executive with Beatrice Chemical; and held
executive positions with Avisun, ARCO Chemical and DuPont.
Jones has published over 80 papers and articles on plastics
and he is the inventor of record on 20 patents.
PlastiComp™, Inc. is the exclusive global marketing and
sales partner for the Pushtrusion® Direct Long-Fiber Thermoplastics
(D-LFT) process.
In the Pushtrusion® molding process, fiber and molten
polymers are fed directly into the injection molding barrel
while still hot, eliminating the need for pre-compounded resin
pellets and giving molders the ability to maintain longer
fiber lengths. Composite product performance is greatly increased,
while costs are lowered dramatically. Pushtrusion® technology
is compact and can be retrofit to existing conventional injection
molding machines.
“There is no doubt that PlastiComp™, Inc. is bringing
an entirely new molding technology to the world. It will transform
our approach to materials engineering, manufacturing and marketing,”
said Jones on his new position as chairman of the board of
directors.
“I am honored to serve in this position. It is an exciting
opportunity to work on the forefront of composites technology,”
continued Jones.
PlastiComp’s board of directors, in addition to Jones,
include Dave Arnold and Dan Arnold, Chairman and President,
respectively, of DCM Tech, a manufacturer of industrial grinders;
Bud Baechler, President of mediawerks, a marketing communications
company in Winona; Thomas C. Bohrer, President of Tom Bohrer
Consulting, which specializes in plastics, specialty chemicals,
fibers and biotechnology companies; Steve Bowen, President
of PlastiComp™, Inc.; and Peter Woodworth, Owner and
CEO of WKM Properties.
