PlastiCompo™,
Inc. will open a new Technical Development Center to further
develop Pushtrusion® Direct Long Fiber Thermoplastics
(D-LFT) technology, company President Steve Bowen announced
today.
The new 15,000 square foot building at 110 Galewski Drive
in Winona is near the present Pushtrusion® corporate headquarters.
The Technical Development Center will be devoted to further
develop and define Pushtrusion® processes and machinery.
PlastiCompo™, Inc. will demonstrate new equipment and
processes, profile Pushtrusion® technology under a variety
of process conditions and develop prototypes of new D-LFT
machinery.
PlastiCompo™, Inc. customers will have the opportunity
to develop processes specific to their businesses on working
production lines, and to perform test runs of Pushtrusion®
machinery prior to shipping.
“Our Technical Development Center will help us more
fully profile the Pushtrusion® process and evaluate parts
production under typical processing conditions,” said
Bowen.
“Most importantly, it gives us the ability to work more
closely with our customers to develop processes that improve
their products, as well as their profits. It’s a big
step in positioning Pushtrusion® technology into a rapid
market growth phase, and to work with our customers to demonstrate
how they can take advantage of D-LFT,” Bowen continued.
Pushtrusion® technology combines fibers and molten polymers
directly in-line as parts are formed, eliminating the need
for pre-compounded resin pellets. Molders can set and maintain
precise fiber lengths. Composite product performance is greatly
improved, while material costs are lowered dramatically. Pushtrusion®
technology is compact and can be retrofit to existing process
equipment, including injection and profile extrusion machinery.
About PlastiComp
PlastiComp, Inc. is unique in providing both long fiber reinforced
thermoplastic (LFT) technology and direct long fiber reinforced
thermoplastic (D-LFT) technology to global customers. Complet®
composite pellets provide a single pellet solution for customers
with stringent requirements and rapid speed to market demands.
In contrast, Pushtrusion® direct in-line compounding offers
a complementary approach by providing substantial savings
compared to precompounded thermoplastic composite pellets.
PlastiComp also offers advanced contract molding along with
research and development including formula development, material
and part testing, and evaluation.
